World Environment Day

"Sustainability is important to me because we only have one Earth and we need to protect it. Jewellery is unique in this way, because the raw materials can be repurposed and kept in rotation forever." – Holly Ryan
World Environment Day is June 5th, which means that it's an important time to take stock of the impact our wardrobes have on the world.
For Holly Ryan Jewellery, this means returning to our core value of sustainability. Instilled in Holly from an early age, these principles have always informed the brand and we are constantly reviewing our practices to ensure the jewellery is as sustainable as possible.
Part of this was the 2018 launch of our Recycling Initiative – where we invite customers to return their pre-loved Holly Ryan jewellery to be recycled and repurposed into something new. Another part of this was the decision to incorporate found materials into our HR19 collection .
From opals collected by Holly's mum Denise and freshwater keshi pearls, to local Australian amber and the ceramics collected by Holly on the beach in Italy, HR19 is a celebration of organic forms and found materials. As always, each piece is handcrafted in Australia using recycled metals.
This World Environment Day, we encourage everyone to think twice about their purchases. To vote using their wallets. And, in the wise words of Dame Vivienne Westwood, to:
"Buy less, choose well, make it last."
